Per esempio i DVD attualmente io li vedo belli fluidi soltanto sule macchine più performanti.

A-EON Technology is pleased to finally reveal the identity of the mystery CPU powering the AmigaOne X1000. It’s none other than the uber cool PWRficient PA6T processor developed by fabless chip designer PA Semi. The PA6T-1682M is a high performance, low power, cool running dual-core, 64-bit, 2GHZ Power CPU specifically designed for embedded industrial and military applications. PA Semi was acquired by Apple in 2008 and all the indications were that they purchased the company for the technology and planned to shut down the PA Semi product line. However, following demand from military and industrial users, Apple agreed to continue supplying chips to pre-existing PA Semi customers for a limited time period. Fortunately Varisys, our hardware partner, had a long-standing relationship with PA-Semi and we were able to secure a supply of PA6T CPUs for the AmigaOne X1000 project, making it the first and most probably the last desktop computer based on the unique PA-Semi CPU technology as Apple have now closed down the PA-Semi product line.



After reading a statement by Thom Holwerda, the Managing Editor of OSNews website announced in an AmigaWorld.net forum, “I can assure you all, with 110% certainty, that the X1000 will NOT carry a processor from PA Semi. If it turns out it does, I will eat my socks and post the video as proof”, we decided to give him an exclusive on revealing the identity of the AmigaOne X1000 CPU. Rather than issuing the usual staid press release and forcing Thom to eat his own socks we decided to take pity on him and shipped him a special cake decorated with a pair of edible "Boing Ball" socks with a note saying the cake was a gift from A-EON Technology. Ottimo sapere che la CPU sia la potente PA6T a 2,00GHz, ma tristissimo sapere che per un eventuale A1-X2000 (semmai venderanno l' X1000, in prima istanza) dovranno rifare tutto da capo perchè la CPU è già fuori produzione.

Un System On Chip per sistemi embedded necessita di una board specifica. Non puoi staccarne il chip e attaccarne un'altro come si fa per i processori per computer Desktop.

Su un PowerMac posso staccare il G4 @ 400 MHz e montare una Sonnet a 1,8GHz, ma sul router della fastweb (o sul mio cellulare) non posso decidere di installare un MIPS R4000 o un ARM11 più potenti di quelli predisposti di fabbrica...

Mi sa che anche (soprattutto) questo nuovo X1000 come i classics con il passare del tempo non perderà valore ma sarà sempre più ambito e ricercato su ebay

Cmq l'ipotetico X500 è già morto sul nascere, mi sembra di capire... almeno non sarà basato sulla stessa cpu dell'X1000, ma a questo punto secondo me non uscirà nemmeno

Calmo non sanno nemmeno quante X1000 venderanno e l'X500 dipende dalle
vendite dell'X1000 e sopratutto dovrebbe essere di fascia bassa.
Per cui monteranno CPU molto meno potenti di questa dell'X1000.
Più che altro è brutto sapere che la cpu dell'X1000 è già fuori
produzione.
Io spero nel miraloco dell'X1000 certo che se la vendono tra i 1500 e i
1800 euro con iva vende molto bene.
Una Sam460 completa ti costa minimo 1200 ivati se poi prendi quella di Relec
siamo sui 1400 ivati per cui non esiste storia hanno fatto il botto.

Dalle stelle alla stalla!

Sta notizia che gli hanno chiuso la linea di produzione prima ancora che potessero mettere in vendita le macchine, mi ha buttato nelle frustrazione + profonda.
Sicuramente xchè per passare ad un altro processore ci vorranno altri 2-3 anni con la velocità tipica di Hyperion e poi perchè non si vede un futuro, una possibile evoluzione in termini di Mhz, disponibilità ecc.

Se A-EON fossero così (s)fortunati da vendere tutto lo stock in lampo che si fa dopo? Andiamo a rubare i processori dagli F16?
