"How's it Going?
Linux is not much different than any other UNIX flavour I've encountered. Linux is interesting but not much fun. It's more of a business system to me. I've installed all the usual stuff like UAE, Opera, games, etc. The KDE GUI is a thrill to use and much smoother than the equivalent Microsoft and Apple 9.x offerings (I've yet to try OS X). Being stuck with CDE at work, I can see now why KDE makes Linux a viable desktop alternative and why so many non-Microsoft owned governments are switching over. The system as a whole runs very fast and smooth with no random pauses, sudden hiccups, whirring hard disks, flashing network links and other usual Windoze behaviour. Faster and smoother than my umpteen GHz P4 at work with Windoze 2000 by far. It also beats my parent's iMac in fluidity and response time by an order of magnitude. I sincerely hope AmigaOS 4.0 will be here soon to liven this baby up. "
