Ciao a tutti. Faccio un riassunto veloce su AmigaOS4.1.
L'ultima versione è la AmigaOS4.1 FE (final edition).

AmigaOS4.1 è solo per cpu PowerPC.
Ci sono varie versioni:

- AmigaOS4.1 Classic Edition gira sugli Amiga classici dotati di schede acceleratrici PowerPC (e quindi gira anche su WinUAE che emula amiga classici con schede acceleratrici PowerPC).

- AmigaOS4.1 per gli AmigaNG (X1000, X5000, Sam460, AmigaOne XE, Pegasos2).

Le versioni sono identiche, cambiano solo alcuni moduli del kickstart che si interfacciano all'hardware specifico delle macchine.

Se si vuole usare sotto emulazione, ci sono due possibilità adesso:
1) usare WinUAE (+ plugin qemu che emula la CPU PowerPC)
2) usare direttamente QEMU (minimo la versione 8.2).

Con WinUAE emuli amiga classici dotati di scheda PowerPC (Quindi serve AmigaOS4.1 Classic Edition)
Con QEMU 8.2 emuli direttamente gli Amiga NG (Quindi serve AmigaOS4.1 per la macchina specifica che vuoi emulare)
Attualmente con QEMU 8.2 sono emulate:
- Sam460
- Pegasos2
- AmigaOne XE (lavori in corso, non so se è già disponibile)

Secondo me per emulare AmigaOS4.1 adesso conviene usare QEmu8.2 per questi motivi:
1) la versione QEMU usata in WinUAE è molto più vecchia
2) emulando le macchine NG non ci sono i limiti di RAM delle macchine classiche
3) con il passthrough USB si possono usare direttamente dispositivi USB
4) Tra poco uscirà un driver virtuale che potrà sfruttare direttamente i driver grafici della macchina ospite

Per esperienza personale, attualmente l'emulazione Pegasos2 è la migliore.

Note:
Non esiste la versione 680x0 di OS4.1FE. OS4.1 è solo per PowerPC.
Esiste la versione OS4.1 Classic Edition che serve a gestire l'hardware della scheda acceleratrice PPC e dell'amiga classic (avrà i driver per gestire i chip custom dell'amiga).
Il software PowerPC per AmigaOS4.1 gira su tutti i tipo di AmigaOS4.1 indifferentemente.
I vecchi software per motorola 68000, su AmigaOS4.1 girano in modo trasparente grazie ad un emulatore(Petunia) che si attiva automaticamente, ma gira solo il software scritto in modo OS-friendly.
I software che accedono direttamente ai chip custom Amiga, non funzionano su AmigaOS4.1. Puoi usarli lanciando l'emulatore FS-UAE (che come WinUAE emula l'intera macchina Amiga, e non solo la CPU).

Enchancer da nuova vita al 4.1, ma è un requisito di Warp3dNova che vanno comprate a parte.
Risolve un sacco di rogne, inoltre puoi usare SFS, le prefs sono migliori e aggiunge tante piccole migliorie.
